Requirements & Grading
Homework. These are multiple choice questions based on our textbooks, intended to help you earn better scores on the exams. All homework must be submitted via the Interwrite PRS, unless a documented disability interferes with you doing so. No individual homework will be accepted after the due date, unless you have a documented excused absence. In-class work & quizzes. It is very important for you as a writer that you practice some of the stylistic principles we discuss. In-class work will include open-ended creative exercises, frequently done in groups. Quizzes test your individual preparation and are based on homework, reading, and lectures. You must take quizzes using the Interwrite PRS, unless a documented disability interferes with you doing so. Each homework assignment, in-class exercise, or quiz is worth 5 points. Exams: The exams use a 100-point scale: 40 points = questions based on lecture material; 60 points = questions based on reading and homework The best way to prepare for exams is to take notes during lectures and keep up with homework. My lecture notes are not in publishable form (they are sometimes in outline form, they have not been edited, I have not secured permissions to publish), so I do not post or circulate or make them available to others. Part I of the Final Exam will repeat the information on the Hourly Exam. If you miss the Hourly Exam—or just are not happy with your grade—I will substitute the score you receive on Part I of the Final Exam. Tardiness & AttendanceCourse Calendar |
