The University of Kentucky Academic Scholarship Programs offers funds to outstanding students who demonstrate the potential for superior academic performance. Academic-based scholarships are administered by the Office of Academic Scholarships, and awards are made without regard to financial status, race, creed, religious preference, or sex.

Factors which are considered in the evaluation of academic scholarship applications include writing ability, academic achievement, leadership experiences, class rank, extracurricular activities, work experience, awards and recognition, and community service. All academic scholarships are awarded on a highly competitive basis.

The University of Kentucky has three Academic Scholarship Programs, each with their own application and deadline to apply:

• Incoming Freshmen—January 15 deadline
• Transfer Students— May 15 deadline
• Currently Enrolled UK Students— April 15 deadline

Several departments and colleges within the University administer their own Departmental Scholarship Program. Students who have chosen a major are encouraged to contact the department in their major area of study regarding scholarship opportunities. For information concerning need-based scholarships, contact the Student Financial Aid Office.

The Office of Academic Scholarships also administers the Legacy Tuition Program for eligible non-resident students.
