Academic Scholarship Program for Freshmen Entering Fall 2010
The University of Kentucky Academic Scholarship Program offers awards to outstanding students who demonstrate the potential for superior academic performance. The following scholarships will be awarded to eligible students, provided the student is admitted and has the qualifying test score and GPA on file with the Office of Undergraduate Admission by March 1, 2010. No application is required.
Flagship Scholarship
Incoming freshmen whose highest ACT score is 26-27 or SAT (M+CR) is 1170-1240, and achieve a 3.30 unweighted high school GPA, will automatically be offered a Flagship Scholarship. The Flagship Scholarship provides $1,500 during the freshman year, non-renewable. No application is required.
The Provost Scholarship
Incoming freshmen whose minimum ACT score is 28 or SAT (M+CR) is 1250, and achieve a 3.30 unweighted high school GPA, will automatically be offered a Provost Scholarship. The Provost Scholarship provides $1,500 per year, for up to four years of undergraduate study. No application is required.
Competitive Scholarships for Freshmen
The University of Kentucky also provides a competitive scholarship application for higher valued scholarships, for students with a minimum test score of 31 ACT or 1360 SAT (M+CR) and minimum unweighted GPA of 3.75. The deadline to apply for competitive scholarships is January 15, 2010. Applications must be postmarked by the January 15 deadline.

The awards include:
The Otis A. Singletary Scholarship
Four-year awards provide tuition, room and board and a yearly stipend of $1,500.
The Presidential Scholarship
Four-year awards that cover the cost of in-state tuition.
The Commonwealth Scholarship
Four-year awards for $2,500 per year; Kentucky applicants only.
The National Excellence Scholarship
Four-year awards for $4,500 per year; non-resident applicants only.
Students may receive only one scholarship through the Academic Scholarship Program. A competitive scholarship offer would replace a Flagship or Provost Scholarship offer.
Special Scholarships
The Office of Academic Scholarships also offers scholarships for the following (incoming freshmen only):
- National Merit® /Achievement® Finalists
- Kentucky Governor's Scholars
- Kentucky Governor's School for the Arts Alumni
- Kentucky High School Valedictorians
Other Scholarships
Several departments and colleges within the University administer their own scholarship programs. Students who have chosen a major are encouraged to contact the department or college in their major area of study regarding departmental scholarship opportunities.
