University Trails

We are excited to offer single graduate students a new housing opportunity! Graduate and Family Housing has obtained a Master Lease for a number of apartments/beds located at 845 Red Mile Road, Lexington, KY 40504. The apartment community is known as University Trails. Please see more information in the "University Trails" page.

Dear Resident,

We know this is a time of uncertainty and some anxiety for those residents impacted by the de-commissioning of Cooperstown this summer. That's why we've tried to communicate as early as possible about this transition. We have engaged in dialogue with your fellow residents as well as faculty and staff about this process.

As a result of that ongoing discussion, the Graduate and Family Housing Appeals Committee – composed of faculty, staff and student representation – is broadening its efforts to find additional housing options for graduate students. The committee is taking two important steps:

  • Finding options that will accommodate graduate students either with on-campus or off-campus housing.

The appeals committee is working with Purchasing to collect additional information through a request for proposal (RFP) for an off-campus master lease. We expect the outcome of the RFP to provide housing options that are less disruptive.

  • Moving back final decisions regarding appeals to April 15.

Previously, we reported that appeals would be reviewed and decided upon by March 25. But we believe the extra three weeks will provide time to locate additional housing options for those impacted.

In the meantime, we caution you to wait to sign leases with apartments or complexes off campus.

Our promise to you is that we will move as quickly as possible in finding less disruptive housing options for students and their families. This is a priority for the university.

As we settle on options, we will provide updates to you quickly. Please continue to communicate with us during this period if you have questions.

Thank you for your patience.

"University Graduate & Family Housing strives to provide a safe, healthful, well maintained, clean, accessible, living and learning environment at a reasonable price for full-time student families, full-time single graduate and doctoral students, and full-time non-traditional students as space permits."
