11 Steps to Accepting Your Financial Aid Offer

Your 2017-2018 financial aid offer is available on myUK Portal at: Please take a few minutes to review and accept the awards online. You must accept your awards within two weeks of receiving notification.

Step 1: Use a recommended browser

The following browsers are recommended for myUK Portal: Google Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari. Mobile devices should not be used for this process. If you need technical assistance please contact the UK Help Desk at 859-218-4357 or

Step 2: Activate your link Blue ID and Password

To review and accept your awards please be sure to activate your link blue username and password. If you have not yet activated your UK linkblue and your UK email Address, please go to Future financial aid communications will be sent to you electronically, it is critical you set up your email address and check it periodically.

Step 3: View and Accept Your Awards on the MyUK Portal

3.1. After logging in to myUK portal at, please go to: Student Services > Financials >Financial Aid > Academic Year.

3.2. Select the 2017-2018 Academic Year.

3.3. Navigate to the "BudgetTab" to review UK's academic year average cost of tuition & fees, room & board, and other costs you should expect to incur for your education such as books & supplies, transportation, and personal expenses.

3.4. Go to the View and Accept Awards tab. After viewing your awards, go to the Terms and Conditions tab.

Read this information carefully for requirements and disbursement times for your aid.

3.5. Accept the terms and conditions of your aid offer at the very bottom of the information. You must click the “I Agree” box.

3.6. Return to View and Accept awards to accept or reject your awards. Be sure you click the Submit button. If you plan to accept only 1 semester of your aid you must contact your Financial Aid counselor.

Step 4: Review the Federal Shopping Sheet (this tab will be available after tuition/fees are finalized in late May/early June):

We are pleased to offer you the shopping sheet. The shopping sheet is a consumer tool that is designed to simplify the information about costs to attend UK and your financial aid award package. To view your shopping sheet click on the Shopping Sheet tab located on the MyUK portal.

Step 5: Complete Entrance Counseling and the Master Promissory Note (Direct Loan Borrowers only)

If you accept Federal Direct Subsidized and/or Unsubsidized loans and are a first time borrower, you must complete the Entrance Counseling AND the Electronic Master Promissory Note at Your loans will not be released until both processes are complete.

Step 6: Apply for a Federal Parent PLUS Loan (Parent Borrowers Only)

Parents who want to borrow a Federal Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) may apply for the PLUS loan by going to The web site allows parents to apply for the PLUS loan, receive immediate notification of the credit check results, and to complete the required electronic master promissory note (eMPN). Parents with approved credit checks will be notified of the PLUS loan award amount in July. Students whose parent is not approved for a PLUS loan are potentially eligible for additional unsubsidized Direct Loan.

Step 7: Apply for a Federal Graduate PLUS Loan (Graduate and Professional Student Loan Borrowers Only)

Graduate and Professional students who want to borrow a Federal Graduate Loan (PLUS) may apply by going to The web site allows graduate and professional students to apply for the Graduate PLUS loan, receive immediate notification of the credit check results, and to complete the required electronic master promissory note (eMPN). Students with approved credit checks will be notified of the Grad PLUS loan award amount in July.

Step 8: Report Additional Scholarships Received from Outside Sources:

Notify our office of all additional scholarships or other funding you expect to receive that does not appear on your list of financial aid awards. Use the Outside Scholarship Resource Form that you may obtain at

Step 9: Complete Entrance Counseling and the Master Promissory Note (Federal Perkins Loan Borrowers only)

If your financial aid package includes a Federal Perkins Loan or Health Profession Loan, you must complete loan requirements each year. ECSI, Inc., the Perkins Loan servicer, will notify you by email when you can complete these requirements electronically at Electronic signature of the Master Promissory Note requires your FSA ID for login. The Federal Perkins Loan requirements must be completed on or before September 15, 2017.

Step 10: Report to Federal Work Study Office (Federal Work Study Students only)

If your financial aid package includes a Federal Work Study (FWS) award and you accept this award, when you arrive on campus, report to the Work-Study Office in 128 Funkhouser Building to obtain a FWS job packet containing the paperwork required for a FWS job.

Step 11: Complete the Verification Process (Students selected for Verification only)

If your FAFSA was selected for verification, please be aware all need based awards and loans listed on your award letter are estimated awards based upon the information you and your parents provided on the FAFSA. You must complete the verification process to validate the types and amounts of awards. If selected, you should have already received instructions from our office concerning how to complete the verification process through our state agency, KHEAA. Verification must be completed by your last day of enrollment.

All awards are initially based on an assumption of full-time enrollment. Your award(s) may be adjusted based on your actual residency, career, academic level, and enrollment status at the end of registration.
