Scholarship Programs for Adult Students

Academic Excellence Scholarship

Part-time, undergraduate students currently enrolled at the UK Lexington Campus may apply for this award for the 2014-2015 academic year.

To be eligible, applicants must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours and have a 3.25 cumulative GPA or higher at UK. Applicants must enroll in at least 6 credit hours, but no more than 11 credit hours during the Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 semesters.

All applicants who meet the minimum requirements for the Academic Excellence Scholarship will be considered for a limited number of one year, non-renewable scholarships of $1,000. Funds will be credited in equal amounts during the fall and spring semesters.

Levis D. McCullers Undergraduate Scholarship

Undergraduate students currently enrolled at the UK Lexington Campus may apply for this award for Fall 2014.

To be eligible, applicants must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours and have a 3.00 cumulative GPA or higher at UK. Applicants must be pursuing their first undergraduate degree as a full-time or part-time student.

All applicants who meet the minimum requirements for the Levis D. McCullers Undergraduate Scholarship will be considered for a $400 award for the Fall 2014 semester.

Lexington Woman's Club Scholarship

Full-time undergraduate students currently enrolled at the UK Lexington Campus may apply for this award for the 2014-2015 academic year.

To be eligible, applicants must be a resident of Fayette County and have a minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA or higher at UK. Applicants must be currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing their first undergraduate degree. Preference is given to women.

The Lexington Woman's Club Scholarship covers full-tuition for the fall and spring semesters, and is awarded on the basis of financial need, academic excellence, character and leadership.

Suburban Woman's Club Scholarship

Full-time undergraduate students who are currently enrolled at the UK Lexington Campus may apply for this award for the 2014-2015 academic year.

To be eligible, applicants must be residents of Kentucky who have completed between 60 and 90 credit hours of course work and have a 3.00 cumulative GPA or higher at UK. Applicants must be currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student. Preference is given to women.

A $1,000 scholarship is awarded on a semester basis through this program. The scholarship may be renewed for subsequent semesters, providing scholarship funding is available and the student's eligibility is maintained.

UK Woman's Club Scholarship

Undergraduate students who are currently enrolled at the UK Lexington Campus may apply for this award for the 2014-2015 academic year.

To be eligible, applicants must be residents of Kentucky who have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours and have a 3.00 cumulative GPA or higher at UK. Applicants must be currently enrolled full-time or part-time in an undergraduate degree program at UK. Preference is given to women.

Scholarships covering full tuition at the resident rate for the fall and spring semesters are awarded through this program.

Nofflet D. Williams Scholarship

Undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in an electronically delivered course at the UK Lexington Campus may apply for this award for the Fall 2014 semester.

To be eligible, applicants must have completed at least 12 credit hours and have a 3.25 cumulative GPA or higher at any institution of higher learning. Applicants must be enrolled in an eligible electronically delivered course through the Independent Study Program or Distance Learning Program at UK.

All applicants who meet the minimum requirements for the Nofflet D. Williams Scholarship will be considered for a $500 scholarship for the fall 2014 semester.

Students applying for the Nofflet D. Williams Scholarship must be officially admitted to the University of Kentucky by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions or the Graduate School.

Eligible University of Kentucky employees may apply for a $250 reimbursement to assist with the cost of books and/or other materials, supplies, and fees related to their UK course work.

Bluegrass Alliance for Women Legacy of Leadership Scholarship

The Bluegrass Alliance for Women offers $500 non-renewable scholarships to women who have demonstrated strong leadership skills and a commitment to volunteer service. These awards are available to female residents of any Bluegrass Areas Development District County (Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Estill, Fayette, Franklin, Garrard, Harrison, Jessamine, Lincoln, Madison, Mercer, Nicholas, Powell, Scott, or Woodford).

Applicants must either be a currently enrolled full-time or part-time college student seeking scholarship funds or a non-traditional student attending college for the first time or going back to college.

Child Care Grant

The University of Kentucky Student Government Association offers child care grants to UK students who have a dependent child or children.

To be eligible, applicants must be officially admitted to the University of Kentucky, submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form, and provide an estimate of household monthly living expenses. These grants are need-based awards offered during the fall and spring semesters.

Go Higher Grant

Kentucky's Go Higher Grant provides up to $1,000 for adult students ages 24 or older who enroll at a Kentucky college or university less than half-time. These need-based grants are awarded to assist with tuition and book costs for one academic year.

P.E.O. Educational Loan Fund

The Educational Loan Fund was established in 1907 to make loans available to qualified women desiring higher education, who are in need of financial assistance.

Candidates must be recommended by a local chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and be within two years of completing their course of study. The current maximum loan is $12,000 at 3% interest and due six years from the date of issue. Following the graduation date originally stated on the application, interest will begin accruing and will be billed on an annual basis.
