About the College
Comprised of the School of Architecture, School of Interiors, and Department of Historic Preservation, the UK College of Design has received a national reputation for excellence through the commitment of its faculty and the spirit, talent and dedication of its students. The college is distinguished as a community where students are encouraged to exchange ideas and explore the interdisciplinary connections that exist among the various practices of design.
By partnering with manufacturers, energy providers, and researchers, the college is not only increasing the intellectual capital of Kentucky, but also applying design thinking to global challenges. Through this approach, the college educates, trains and prepares students for leading roles in an innovation-driven economy. You will find UK College of Design graduates in positions with leading firms, corporations, and public service.
The School of Architecture in the UK College of Design is the only NAAB-accredited architecture program in Kentucky. The top-rated faculty, internationally renowned studio projects, and state-of-the-art facilities provide students with the necessary skills to compete and excel in a global design market.
As the premier interior design program in the state of Kentucky, the School of Interiors inspires great talent by connecting its graduates to professional practice, design leadership, and community engagement opportunities. An education from the School of Interiors prepares future designers for private practice, careers in public service, or post-professional education in design or allied fields.
This is a time of growth for the Department of Historic Preservation. The rich history of the Commonwealth provides students with ample occasions to hone their preservation skills in the field. With expanded teaching, assistantship, and research opportunities, the Historic Preservation program continues to attract the best and brightest students and faculty.
