There are two ways of using GelBandFitter on your own computer.

If you have a full version of Matlab (2008a or later) and the Optimization Toolbox, you can run GelBandFitter as a *.m file in the Matlab development environment. You can download the source code as a zipped archive below.

If you don't have Matlab, you can still use GelAnalyzer as a standalone package if you have a Windows PC. You will also need to download the Mathworks MCR System. Links to the necessary files are provided below.

Standalone Package
  • If you are using a Windows PC and don't have MATLAB on your machine, you can run GelBandFitter as a standalone package. The disadvantage is that you will have to do a bit of extra work upfront.

  • First, work out whether you are running a 32-bit or a 64-bit version of Windows. You can find this out by following the instructions this link.

  • As of GelBandFitter version 1.6, you only have to download 1 file. That will in turn download additional files from the MATLAB website. Note that the installation process may take ~30 minutes because of the size of files that need to be downloaded.

  • Once you have downloaded this executable and run it to install the software, you should be able to run GelBandFitter from the Start Menu, that is, Start->GelBandFitter->GelBandFitter.
