SAP HANA

What is SAP HANA?

SAP HANA is our central database management system that allows us to quickly access to large volumes of data in real-time. To learn more about SAP HANA and the way it works, we recommend watching the brief video below, provided by SAP.

What data is in SAP HANA?

SAP HANA houses much of the University's student, faculty, and employee data. This includes, but is not limited to, regulatory, operational, and institutional data.

Do I need access to SAP HANA?

If you are a "consumer" of University data (e.g., only interacting with reports published to Tableau Server), then you do not need access to SAP HANA. However, if you are a "creator" of reports using data stored in SAP HANA, then you will likely need to request access if you haven't done so already.

How do I get access to SAP HANA?

You can request access to SAP HANA by using our access request form. Once you have completed and submitted the form, your area security officer will review it. Following their review and approval, our SAP HANA administration team will provide you with access to the data relevant to your business requirements and role at the University.

Gaining access to SAP HANA does not give you access to Tableau Server. If you require access to Tableau Server, please refer to our Tableau Server resource page.

How do I connect to SAP HANA with Tableau Desktop?

Once you've been granted access to SAP HANA, follow the applicable steps for your operating system:
