The Technical Division’s main priority is system control and management of the physical security components on campus and is comprised of 6 individuals: Security Systems Manager, two Building Security Authority Support officers, a Building Inspector, a UK Radio Systems Coordinator, and an embedded technician from our Stanley Security access control partner.
The Technical Division is customer service driven – handling requests from many different entities throughout the University. We are responsible for adding or removing access; setting lock schedules; maintaining Talk-a-Phones and cameras; and overseeing the continual expansion of the access control and video management systems.
Over the past 5 years, the video management system has grown to have more than 2000 cameras throughout the campus. Along with that, the access control system has grown to include more than 6,000 electronically controlled doors across residence halls, academic buildings, and the medical center campus. Our most recent addition to the Technical Division is our radio technician. With the renovation of the radio system on campus, UKPD brought on a technician who specializes in this field in order to provide excellent service for our campus partners with the radios.
