Welcome!
Every year thousands of students from all over the United States -- and some foreign countries -- enroll in credit courses through the University of Kentucky's Independent Study Program.
Independent Study through Correspondence allows students to continue their formal education without time or geographic constraints. This flexible approach to learning offers access to University faculty, but all course work is done independently.
Students enrolled in our program can now take advantage of two new options made possible through advanced technology: submission of lessons via e-mail and enrollment in online courses. E-mail and online submissions not only eliminate the cost of postage, but they also expedite the return of a student's graded assignments. These options give students the opportunity to learn in a way that accommodates each student's individual schedule and lifestyle.
University of Kentucky academic departments participate in establishing standards for all course work. Courses may be started anytime during the year and may be finished in as little as eight weeks. However, Independent Study courses allow you the flexibility to achieve your educational goals at your own pace.
Course descriptions, admissions procedures and other pertinent information about the Independent Study Program at the University of Kentucky are included in this website. If you desire additional information, please contact our office.
Thank you for your interest in the University of Kentucky Independent Study Program.
Sincerely,
Dr. Morris Sammons
