What is my Advising Conference?

Advising Conferences are for admitted students only.

At the Advising Conference students will meet other students, hear from campus offices and organizations, meet with your academic advisor and also register for classes. By registering for your  Advising Conference you are notifying our Office of Undergraduate Admission of your intention to attend UK.  Because our conferences are open on a first-come, first-serve basis, we encourage you to confirm as early as possible.

Math Placement Exams

Students who have an ACT math subscore below 19 (or SAT below 460) are required to take the ALEKS online placement test.

If you do not have an ACT/SAT subscore and do not have any credit for a 100-level math course, you are required to take the ALEKS online placement test.

Students who have an ACT math subscore 19 or above (or SAT 460 or above) will be placed in the appropriate math course based on their ACT or SAT scores. Please refer to math placement chart. Please note: this chart is for information purposes only. Students should always consult with their academic advisor before registering for courses.

You do not have to take the ALEKS Online Placement Test if the math component of your:

  • ACT is 19 or above
  •
  • SAT is 460 or above
  •
  • KYOTE is 22 or above
  •
  • COMPASS is 36 or above

  •

If you would like to register for a higher math course than your current test scores allow, you would then take the ALEKS online placement test. You should consult with your academic advisor when making the decision whether or not to take ALEKS.

You will be able to access the ALEKS Placement test using this link: https://secure.aleks.com/uky Students will sign in with their Link Blue username and password the same as they would for their myUK.

If you are having any technical problems, contact ALEKS at (714)619-7090 or http://support.aleks.com

    Major Change

If you wish to change your major, you must do so prior to your Summer Advising Conference.

The conferences do have a maximum capacity for each college and therefore major changes are restricted at the conference and if you choose to change, you may be instructed to return for a later conference. To change your major, please send an email to advconf@uky.edu with your full name, student ID number, birthday and new major request. Your request will be reviewed by your UK Admissions Officer and they will be in contact regarding if the change was successful.
