Members of the University Community,

Last night, President Trump announced the suspension of most travel from Europe, beginning at midnight this Friday, in response to continued concerns over the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). At the same time, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a Warning Level 3 for virtually all of Europe.

Here is how we are responding to these latest developments:

  • The University last night started contacting the 87 UK students who are studying abroad in Europe. We are helping them make arrangements to return immediately to the United States.

  • We also started communicating with students, faculty, and staff who have let us know through our travel registry that they have made plans for personal travel to Europe during Spring Break next week. We are strongly urging them to cancel those plans.

Because this public health challenge is changing so rapidly, we believe any travel plans - to destinations domestic and abroad - should be carefully considered. An area of the U.S. and the world may not currently face travel restrictions, but that could change quickly.

Our top priority has been, and will continue to be, the health, safety, and well-being of every member of our campus community. We will keep you informed as this fluid situation continues to evolve.
