UK Health Corps has been receiving results for student athletes from the Southeastern Conference and its testing partner. To date, these have included all positive results to enable the appropriate contact tracing and communications. Beginning this week, we will also start receiving the negative result data from the SEC testing partner.
President Capilouto urges employees to make decisions informed by rising numbers of COVID-19 cases, both across our state and across our country. Because health and safety remain our top priorities, we hope members of our community will consider advice from experts as they make plans for family gatherings next week.
Following the Governor’s announcement yesterday about additional health measures in response to the surge in COVID-19 cases, President Capilouto provided an update about campus operations and classes between now and Thanksgiving.
On our campus, since the middle of September, we have experienced declining numbers of cases. Over the past two weeks, our numbers have increased – 271 active cases, for example, on Friday from a low of 83 only 12 days ago.
For most of the last several weeks, the numbers of active cases of COVID-19 have been declining at the University of Kentucky. That’s the result of our community’s commitment to healthy behaviors, protecting and respecting others and following the advice of public health experts.
It’s also a testament to the modern public health infrastructure we’ve built on our campus.
