Monthly Professional Development: Card Writing Service Project

UKWF offers free monthly professional development sessions, open to all UK employees. This month we are preparing for National Military Appreciation Month (May) with an easy, do-anywhere service project. Join us in writing cards of appreciation to members of the military, including veterans who are serving and who have served.

Beginning Friday, April 8, cards will be available for pickup at three campus locations:

Gatton Student Center Room A154R (across from WRFL)

Gatton College of Business & Economics Graduate Center Room 359

WR Willard Medical Education Building MN 117

All completed cards should be returned to these locations by Friday April 29. These cards will be shared with Military Missions and the Thomas Hood Veterans Center.

Sample message options (feel free to write your own sentiments!):

  • Thank you for bravely doing what you were called to do so we can safely do what we’re free to do
  • Thank you for serving our nation, our debt can never be repaid.
  • Thank you for defending our freedom
  • God bless you and thank you for your bravery
  • Thank you for your sacrifice, your bravery, and the example you set for us all.

Be sure to sign your name and "University of Kentucky Women's Forum" on your cards.

Coffee & Connect: April 22 9am-10am

Join us for coffee from the comfort of your desk, wherever that might be! Please click here for Zoom registration. This month we will gather virtually to write our cards together for the service project and enjoy fellowship and fun conversation.

Coffee & Connect offers us a way to connect with one another in a safe space for meaningful conversation. This hour of thoughtful discussion typically follows the theme of our monthly professional development and we invite in guest speakers to enhance the conversation.
