Letter to Students Impacted from UK Center for Support and Intervention

Dear Student,

We are reaching out following the destructive storm system that passed through many parts of Kentucky and surrounding states last night and this morning. We are working to reach out to students from areas that might be impacted and University records indicate that your home of record is in an area that has been significantly affected.

The well-being of our students, staff, and faculty is our top priority. We wanted to reach out to you to remind you that the staff in Student Success care about you and are here to help.

If you have been impacted by these recent tragic events, know that it is completely understandable to be experiencing a variety of reactions, including stress, shock, sadness, anger, fear, confusion, numbness, or exhaustion. Please reach out at any time if you need help. In fact, I am happy to talk with you and can be reached directly by email at therese.smith@uky.edu or phone 859-257-3755.

In addition, our Counseling Center (www.uky.edu/counselingcenter) is available to see you immediately. After hours and weekend phone consultation is available by dialing 829-257-8701 and pressing ‘1’ at the prompt.

Additionally, students can engage with the Counseling Center during normal business hours by calling 859-257-8701 or walking in between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on weekdays.

The Counseling Center’s welcome desk is located at 104 Mandrell Hall, directly across Limestone Street from the UK Rosenberg College of Law.

During the semester students can also speak with a Counseling Center clinician through the Let’s Talk program that is offered via Zoom this semester. More information about the program and hours be found at www.uky.edu/counselingcenter/lets-talk.

If you have questions about any other resources or would like to request additional assistance, please do not hesitate to call the Center for Support and Intervention at 859-257-3755.

As a member of this community, we are always here for you.
