1 | EmpoweringTransformation Chief Information Officer Brian Nichols: As chairs of the five task forces, we appreciate your initiative to engage with our University community to create this strategic plan for information technology (IT). It was a privilege working with you and the Information Technology Services (ITS) team alongside other students, faculty, and staff members who served on the task force groups. This plan expresses a strategy for the continued support and advancement of IT at the University of Kentucky (UK) and is an effective complement to the University Strategic Plan, Transforming Tomorrow. Each task force held several meetings to consider the needs of its respective area (Enterprise Systems Enablement, Infrastructure, Research Enablement and Outreach, Teaching and Learning Enablement, and Student IT Enablement). Members drew on their own experiences to identify opportunities for IT improvement and to suggest new directions and technologies to be explored and developed. The process ensured that members were up-to-date on the current and emerging IT needs of the UK community as well as the existing state of IT services and facilities, thereby enabling task force members to make informed recommendations. IT is integrated in all aspects of the UK community including operational activities, strategic ventures, educational endeavors, healthcare and treatment, and forward-looking research, all of which depends on the state of IT at UK being advanced and readily available to support students, faculty, and staff.
