IT Strategic Plan | 38 Action Item 8:7 Given the varied customer needs of the University, accessibility of IT systems and services must be evaluated in current and updated system implementations. Direction and standards for accessibility should be collaboratively established to accommodate special needs and disseminated to University IT service providers. These standards should be channeled by best practices and in accordance with existing laws and regulations. A working group should be convened to consider the challenges and create a plan for implementation. Achieving IT Abundance means that all customer populations have IT support and tools available. Efforts should continue to ensure that IT services are available to students, faculty, and staff with diverse needs. This must include those at UK with individual needs pertaining to vision, hearing, speech, or other physical impairment(s). ITS should be an active partner in such efforts with University constituents to ensure that enterprise systems, applications, and other critical technology based services are developed with the accessibility needs of all members of the University community in mind.
