IT Strategic Plan | 4 EmpoweringTransformation:TheUniversityofKentucky(UK)InformationTechnologyStrategicPlan(ITSP)isaplan thatprovidestheblueprintforITadvancementacrosstheUKcommunity.TheITSPwasdevelopedbytheUniversity community through an inclusive process that has unfolded over the past year. It is ambitious and thoughtful in expressing the priorities of the community that will advance the IT environment at the University. Through its nine areas of recommendation and 57 action items, it articulates the requirement to address long-standing needs in the areas of baseline IT fundamentals, creates IT Abundance, and provides the foundations that promote our institutions’ and community of scholars’ ability to be truly innovative. I am proud to present this plan on behalf of the community that created it, and I pledge the energy and focus of Information Technology Services (ITS) to further engage with the community in achieving successful outcomes through the implementation of this plan. I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to the chairs of the five planning task forces who have done a superb job of leading this process as well as generating the knowledge captured in the ITSP: Catie Lasley and Lisa Wilson (Enterprise Systems Enablement); Kelly Smith and Mary Beth Thomson (Infrastructure); Jim Griffioen and Mark Lauersdorf (Research Enablement and Outreach); Roger Brown and Brian Jackson (Teaching and Learning); and Beth Kraemer and Drew Smith (Student IT Enablement). My sincere thanks to the roughly 100 individuals – students, faculty, and staff – who were involved with the five task forces and contributed their time, energy, and experience. I would also like to thank the many individuals from across the University who took time to review this plan during its open comment period. Finally, to the leadership and staff of ITS, who participated in the process and the preparation of this plan, I express my thanks. I look forward to working with you as we embrace the transformative and enabling power of IT. Thanks for your continued support. Brian T. Nichols Chief Information Officer
