Faculty and staff can invest in the future of CHS

In the College, philanthropy efforts have been growing – and more importantly increasingly contributing to the success of students and the College. Since 2014, six new endowed scholarships/awards have been created or are near finalization; two endowed scholarships reached full endowment; and another two increased significantly with new gifts.

The College philanthropy office has the goal to increase the number of endowed scholarships by at least five – ideally with a new scholarship for each program – by the end of 2021. Faculty and staff are already contributing to this effort by helping to connect alumni, create strategies, steward current gifts and by making personal gifts.

“I choose to give to the CHS student scholarship programs because I know how students struggle with making ends meet and the burden of debt after graduation.”  Tony English, PT, PhD

“I give because of the heartwarming stories of a recipient or a person being honored through the College.” Sharon Goins, Student Affairs Officer

“This work is so rewarding. I want to share the excitement and the passion of the discipline with others. I can do this in a lot of different ways – including by giving of my time as well as providing financial support.” Anne Olson, PhD, CCC/A Audiologist

“I give back because education has had a significant impact on my life. I hope to make it possible for education to be a significant impact in someone else’s life.”  Casey Shadix, PhD

Dr. Tony English, when asked why he believes all faculty and staff should give to the scholarship program said, “We all give our talents to our students while teaching them, but I believe that helping financially is an investment in the future of healthcare.  By giving to student scholarship programs, we can help make our healthcare workforce more diverse and stable.”
