University of Kentucky Communication Sciences & Disorders Academic Clinic (UKCSDC) exists to provide speech and language evaluations and therapy to assist in the remediation of communication delays or disorders. The clients seen in the clinic exhibit a variety of communicative disorders including: fluency, voice, articulation, phonology, language, and motor speech functions. Clients needing assistance in accent reduction are seen as well. All children, adolescents, and adults are welcome. UKCSDC accepts referrals from area schools, speech professionals, physicians, and the general public.
UKCSDC is part of the master’s training program in Communication Sciences and Disorders at UK. All diagnostics and therapy are closely supervised by clinical staff that is certified by the American Speech- Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and are licensed to practice in Kentucky. The clinical program enables qualified student clinicians to develop diagnostic and therapeutic skills as part of their training in speech-language pathology and audiology. It is intended to assist the students in their professional education development.
Scheduling is based on UK academic semesters fall, spring, and summer. Availability is limited based on several factors such as the number of student clinicians, class schedules, and experience needed in a particular disorder. You may be contacted at any time during a semester should an appointment time come available.
UKCSDC does not file insurance claims; our clinic is not equipped to do so. The clinic provides tests and record forms for evaluations, as well as toys, supplies, and materials for use during treatment therapy. We do charge a fee per session to help with those costs.
We are directly across the street from the Albert B. Chandler Medical Center (UK Hospital) off Rose Street, in the Charles T. Wethington, Jr. Building. There are 15 minute drop-off patient parking spaces available for your use. Come into the building, go past the elevators and make a right. We are beside the pay phone in Room 110. After bringing the patient in you will then have to go park in the KY Clinic Parking Garage off of Huguelet Avenue.
