Do you remember what it was that you connected with, that let you know right away that CHS was the right place for you? 

I was attracted to UK CHS because of the excellent faculty and the sense of community the department of special education created for students. 

Did you come to UK knowing you wanted to pursue a career in health sciences?  

Yes, I have always wanted to help other people. I found my passion in the speech-language pathology profession as a way of helping those who had a variety of communication disorders.

How did you choose your profession? 

What is the best advice you received from a CHS faculty member? 

Instead of asking how a procedure is done, ask why it should be done a particular way

Do you have any favorite anecdotes from being a student in CHS? 

What do you love about your job? 

I love knowing my professional work has helped so many people. I take great pride in helping people pursue their efforts in achieving improved communication, no matter what form that takes or what outcomes are achieved. 

How do you stay inspired professionally? 

The children and adults and their families I work with  are incredibly inspiring. 

What do you hope now to accomplish in health care? 

I want to continue to help the next generation of students in health sciences professions make a difference in people's lives.

What advice do you have for students in CHS now? 

Take every opportunity learn from every clinical experience. Sometimes your clinical practice will seem like you are not making a difference but realize you are and will continue to make an impact people's lives in important ways.

What do you wish you would have paid more attention to as a student in regards to your work in healthcare? 

The importance of the families' and care givers' influence on the success of  clients' achievement of functional communication outcomes of treatment.
