Kevin Schuer, DrPH, PA-C is the Program Director and Associate Professor for the University of Kentucky College of Health Sciences Physician Assistant Studies (UKPAS) Department. Prior to joining the UKPAS program faculty in 2008, Dr. Schuer served as Fellow with the National Center for Patient Safety (NCPS) in Ann Arbor, MI. He also completed a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degree from the University of Kentucky College of Public Health where his work focused on Health Management and Policy.
Within the UKPAS program, Dr. Schuer has administrative and curricular responsibilities that include course and program evaluation/ development. Has held a variety of instructional responsibilities both in the department as well as in the UK College of Health Science. He also has interprofessional education responsibilities within the University where he advises and instructs students from a variety of health professions colleges. His scholarly interests include healthcare quality, patient safety as well as interprofessional education and practice. Dr. Schuer also provides clinical services in the University of Kentucky’s outpatient General Internal Medicine Group where he works as a practicing Physician Assistant.
Dr. Schuer is active nationally within the Physician Assistant profession and medical education community. He has served as member and chair on a number of national committees including previously being elected as an at large member of the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) Board of Directors.
