Compensation for Research Subjects

Jul 5, 2016

I wanted to let everyone know if you haven’t already heard that the UK Treasurer’s office came out with a new policy regarding Compensation for Research Subjects  located on their website in their  Business Procedures, Policy  #E9.  This was sent out in February—and they are now enforcing it (and refusing to pay patient payments).  I have attached the policy for your review.  One of the new changes that may be of interest to you,  is that they now require you to:

“Attach a signed statement from the recipient certifying they participated in the research project and acknowledging that they will be compensated. A single statement may be used to document incremental payments made throughout the project.”

I have seen versions of a new form titled:  “ Authorization for Payment for Research Subject Fee” which are fine to use—just be sure there is a line for the participant to sign stating that they participated in the research project and acknowledging that they will be compensated.

See the attached document outlining procedures for compensation for research subjects.
