Cove Haven Cemetery Clean-up

Cove Haven is one of only two African American cemeteries in Lexington, officially established in September of 1907. Among the 10,000 buried at Cove Haven, there are nearly 500 Veterans, including those of the Spanish-American War, Civil War, and World Wars I and II. Cove Haven relies solely on community donations and volunteers to maintain the grounds. Please join us on October 12th, 2019 at 8:00am at Coven Haven Cemetery (984 Whitney Avenue, Lexington, KY 40508) to help clean-up the grounds!

Clean-up projects include:

  • Clearing brush from fence line and gravesites
  • Large/Medium Hedge Clippers
  • Weeding stone planters at gravesites


Optional supplies to bring:

  • Small Clippers
  • Sectioning and removal of large dead trees
  • Gloves
  • Water, Snacks


We will have extra supplies on-site, if you can’t bring your own.

This event is in conjunction with our other Homecoming 2019 festivities! We will also be hosting a tailgate in partnership with the UK Alumni Association before the football game against Arkansas on October 12th. RSVP for the tailgate here!
