Madison Becknell never set out to be an Instagram influencer.
Certainly not for her College — that would be the College of Health Sciences, here at the University of Kentucky, where the 20-year-old Louisville native majors in Clinical Leadership and Management.
But when she saw an advertisement for a student worker who could help with the College's social media account, she jumped at the chance.
Now, she's helping out by showcasing a bit of her own life on the social media platform, to help show prospective students what an academic career in CHS could look like. And her posts won't just include information about her classes — although she will offer some of that, too — but she wants to let high-schoolers in on all the fun she's having. Recent reels have included scenes from football games, Big Blue Madness, Kenneland and a local pumpkin patch.
"I hope to convey how fun college can be if you make it fun," she says. "Yes, we are all here for the degree, but it doesn’t have to be all work — you should relax and take some time to enjoy it, too."
Look for Madison walking around campus, conducting interviews and taking video for our online stories. She'll also give you the opportunity to ask her questions — and maybe even participate in a video yourself!
"I came to UK because the second I stepped on campus it felt like home," she says. "We have unlimited opportunities for our students and the campus is beautiful. I love my program and our faculty — and I can't wait to get out and help tell the stories of all our amazing students."
