Merit Days Kick Off with Intro to CHS

On Saturday, March 4, the Office of Student Affairs and PATHfinders hosted an introduction to the College of Health Sciences during the first of three Merit Weekends, now called Merit Days.

About 40 incoming freshmen had the opportunity to learn about the College, meet with their academic advisors, and plan and register for the fall semester.

Merit Day is a full-day, in-person orientation for students who have been admitted to UK for the Fall of 2023. Students are placed in small groups with a First-Year Experience Ambassador to learn information about living on campus and all the resources that UK has to offer. In addition, the UK Parent and Family Association provide family and guests with tips to help promote the success of their first-year college student.

In the afternoon, students have the opportunity to receive an introduction to their academic colleges. Incoming students are able to meet fellow students in their same major and work with their academic advisors to register for classes.

Heather Hardesty, an academic advisor in the College of Health Sciences, led a presentation that provided the incoming students with advice and insight about registering for class. Both academic advisors and PATHfinders were able to walk around and answer any questions that students had in regard to the registration process.
