Teaching was never really in the plan for Ashley Sparks.

That said, it would also be accurate to express that she never really thought she’d be teaching for her alma mater, either.

But that’s exactly what has happened.

It is that time of year again, when the U.S. News & World Report comes out with its annual list of the best jobs in the country, and once again, Physician Assistant and Physical Therapist are at the top of the list.

Here at the CHS News Desk, we thought it might be fun to run down the stories that received the most clicks and views from 2022. As we reviewed them, we saw exactly why they garnered so much attention. Some made us laugh and cry. Some inspired. Some were just important and informed us.

No matter the topic, each one made it crystal clear: Last year was a big and important time for the College of Health Sciences.

It’s National Allied Health Professions Week!

It’s National Allied Health Professions Week, or as some call it, National Allied Health Week, where we celebrate all that is wonderful about the Allied Health Professions. There will be lectures and seminars, mental health resources and helpful tips on how to live a healthier life.

During the week, we’ll also be featuring stories about current students on our social media.

Nearly 30 vendors came from near and far to appear at the 2022 UK PA Job Fair, but some one pair made a very long trip. Two recruiters came all the way from Coos Bay, Oregon's North Bend Medical Center. 

Why would the two women — who had never visited the state of Kentucky before — come all the way to attend a job fair for UK PA?

There's a saying in life that you always want to leave your audience wanting more.

It was certainly true Friday in the College of Health Sciences. But in this case, the CHS Office of Student Affairs left them wanting S'mores.

Congratulations go out to Shelley Irving, MSPAS, PA-C, assistant professor and Morehead Campus Site Director, Department of Physician Assistant Studies, for winning the PA Foundation's William H. Marquardt Community Health Access Fellowship.
