College of Health Sciences Department of Physician Assistant Studies receives awards for projects focusing in rural health

Lexington, Ky. (Jan. 5, 2021) -- The University of Kentucky’s College of Health Sciences Department of Physician Assistant Studies has recently received awards for two projects focusing in rural health.

The Kentucky Rural Health Association (KRHA) Conference hosted its annual event via Zoom in early November, where UK PAS faculty, Shelley Irving, MSPAS, PA-C, Josh Burkhart, MSPAS, PA-C, and Leslie Woltenberg, PhD, received the First Place Poster Award.

UK PA Program Collaborates with Morehead State University Theatre Program to Practice Psychiatric Patient Simulations

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 16, 2020) -- The University of Kentucky College of Health Sciences Physician Assistant Studies Program along with the Morehead State University’s Theatre Program recently completed its second year of psychiatric patient simulations via Zoom.

The inspiration for the unique collaboration came from both Cheryl Vanderford, MPAS, PA-C, assistant professor in the UK PAS program, and Greg Carlisle, MFA, assistant professor in the MSU Department of Theatre, Music and Dance.

Physician Assistant Studies Program Classes of 1975-1977 Host Reunion via Zoom During Pandemic

The University of Kentucky College of Health Sciences Physician Assistant Studies (PAS) program’s graduating classes of 1975-77 recently held their first formal reunion via Zoom in November.

45 years ago, the class of 1975 became the first Kentucky-graduated Physician Assistants (PAs); so, this reunion was an exciting moment for this monumental group to reconnect.

UK College of Health Sciences launches physician assistant residency programs

Residencies allow recent health care graduates to turn knowledge into action as they prepare to impact future patients and deliver quality care. In 2020, the UK College of Health Sciences launched four physician assistant (PA) residency programs to educate and equip recent PA graduates for transition into specialty practice.
